Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe - America's #1 Favorite

chocolate chip cookies

Since Ruth Wakefield invented the Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe in 1933 it has been a family favorite in American homes. And our home is no exception. Our cupboard is always well stocked with the ingredients for our Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe. We even keep a dish of chocolate chips within reach of our couch just for that quick chocolate fix.

Nothing brings smiles like the smell of homemade cookies coming out of the oven. And the taste of warm, delicious chocolate chip cookies is a delight for all ages.

The great thing about Chocolate Chip Cookies is that you can use this recipe as Christmas Cookies or any other time you need holiday cookies. But then, isn't everyday a holiday when it comes to baking cookies? I think so.

I recommend using high quality chocolate chips with no less than 60% Cocoa in this cookie recipe.

So let's get moving and bake some cookies...

You will need:

  • 2 1/4 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3/4 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extrace
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. bitter sweet chocolate baking chips

Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a mixing bowl stir together four, baking soda and salt. In larger mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs and beat well. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking stone. Bake 9 - 11 minutes or until lightly browned. Let the cookies sit on the baking stone for a few minutes before transferring to cooling rake.

Eat some of these fresh baked chocolate chip cookies immediately but save some for later. This recipe yields about 6 dozen, but my batches turn out less as I make larger cookies.
