Frozen Dinner Rolls

These Frozen Dinner Rolls will be a big hit at your family gatherings or on your family dinner table. The warm, aromatic appeal of rolls make a ordinary dinner into a dinner to be remembered. A meal just isn't complete without it. Show your family and friends your talent for making bread recipes and give them the experience of warmth and love. I can't remember a meal, growing up, that didn't include some type of bread. These Frozen Dinner Rolls will put smiles on all the faces at your table.

  • 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 c. all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 pkgs. active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 2 eggs, room temperature

In a large bowl thoroughly mix 2 cups of the flour, sugar, salt and undissolved yeast.

Combine water, milk and butter in a saucepan. Heat over low heat until liquids are very warm (120° to 130°). Butter does not need to melt. Gradually add to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Add eggs and 1/2 cup flour. Vigorously beat for another 2 minutes. Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough. Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 - 10 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap, then a towel and let rest for 20 minutes.

Punch dough down. Shape into desired shapes for dinner rolls. Place on greased baking sheets. Cover with plastic and foil, sealing well. Freeze until firm. Transfer to plastic bags. Freeze up to 4 weeks.

Remove from freezer and place on greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in warm place, free of drafts until doubled in size, about 1 1/2 hours.

Bake at 350° F. for 15 minutes or until golden brown and done. Remove from baking sheet and cool on wire rack. Makes about 4 dozen rolls. Frozen Dinner Rolls will make a great addition to one of my beef recipes.
