Death by Chocolate Cookies

This Death by Chocolate recipe is a recipe from my home economics class in high school and is one of my favorite cookie recipes that has been used often in my kitchen.
This wonderfully chocolate cookie recipe is an excellent choice to use for your holiday cookies. They would make a good addition to your Christmas cookies recipe collection. Most everyone loves chocolate cookies.
Cookies are made of butter and love. - Norwegian Proverb
- 2 pkgs. (16 squares) semi-sweet baking chocolate, divided
- 3/4 c. brown sugar (packed firmed)
- 1/4 c. unsalted sweet butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 2 c. chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coarsely chop 8 squares of the chocolate; set aside. Melt remaining 8 squares of chocolate. Stir in sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and baking powder. Stir in reserved chopped chocolate and nuts. Drop 1/4 cupfuls baking stone. Bake 12 - 3 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch. Cool on baking stone for 1 minute. Transfer to wire rack to cool.
Makes about 1 1/2 dozen cookies.
You now have the richest chocolate cookie you can imagine. A Death by Chocolate Cookie and a cup of coffee and I am a happy girl!
