I love the way Chocolate Crinkle Cookies crack when baking. They make a really good Christmas cookies with the powdered sugar and the chocolatey flavor. Add these to a plate with other cookies to share with friends and co-workers during the holidays and watch the smiles. When my kids were young, I was baking a batch of cookies using this recipe. When I took them out of the oven the kids looked at them and exclaimed "they all broke!." Chocolate Crinkle Cookies became a favorite in my house no matter what time of year.
- 2 c. granulated sugar
- 3/4 c. vegetable oil
- 3/4 c. cocoa powder
4 eggs- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 1/3 c. all purpose flour- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Powdered sugar
Mix together granulated sugar and oil until well blended. Add cocoa. Mix well. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the cocoa mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate until dough is firm enough to handle, at least 6 hours Heat oven to 350° F. Grease cookie sheet, unless you're using a baking stone. Shape dough into 1" balls and roll in powdered sugar. Place about 2" apart on baking sheets. Bake 12 - 14 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched light and tops are crackled. Cool completely on wire racks. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
