Chicken with Apple Cream Sauce
Chicken with Apple Cream Sauce is an excellent chicken recipe for this time of year. Autumn is just around the corner and apples and apple cider are back in season. And what a delicious combination. Braeburn apples adds a sweet savory flavor to this easy chicken recipe. It will certainly become a family favorite. Skinless, boneless chicken breasts are prepared with a creamy, sweet-savory sauce. Don't become alarmed if the sauce starts to separate after you add the apples and half-and-half; it will smooth out as it simmers. - 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts halves
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/2 ts. black pepper
- 2/3 c. apple cider
- 3 c. thinly sliced peeled Braeburn apples
- 3/4 c. half-and-half
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sprinkle chicken with salt, thyme and pepper. Add chicken to pan. Cook 5 minutes on each side or until done. Remove chicken from pan and keep warm. Add cider to pan, scraping pan to loosen browned bits. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook until reduced to 1/3 cup.Add apple and half-and-half. Simmer over low heat 10 minutes or until sauce thickens and apple is tender (not mushy), stirring occasionally. Serve sauce over chicken.You can prepare this recipe for chicken without a lot of calorie guilt. It has about 285 calories per serving. One serving is 1 chicken breast half and 1/2 c. apple cream sauce.
